We are delighted to share with you the exhibition Organized by Art For All Society (AFA Macau), co-organized by “Avant-garde” Innovative Multimedia Art Association (Macau), and sponsored by the Cultural Development Fund of Macao, “Mirroring・Looping・Generating”: From Video Art to Artificial Intelligence Exhibition Series I—“Déjà Vu” -A Sino-French Art Exchange Exhibition—will grandly open on 14 May 2025 at Shoppes at Parisian, Level 3, Shop #320, The Parisian Macao. As an official program of the “French May” Arts Festival, the exhibition bridges Sino-French cultural dialogues through art, delving into the philosophical intersections of time, memory, and perception. “Mirroring・Looping・Generating”: From Video Art to Artificial Intelligence Exhibition Series II will take place from 21 to 30 August at Espace Temps Gallery in Paris, France, furthering the cross-cultural exchange between China and France. Audiences worldwide are invited to witness the evolving interplay of memory and technology.

French philosopher Henri Bergson’s theory of “Déjà Vu” reveals the simultaneous split between perception and memory—a coexistence of the “actual” present and its “virtual” mirror image. Three artists—Robert Cahen (France), Alice Kok (Macao), and Catherine Cheong (Macao)—transform this abstract philosophical concept into tangible sensory experiences through video art, AI-generated imagery, and multimedia installations. The exhibition’s keywords, “Mirroring,” “Looping,” and “Generating,” not only reflect the artists’ techniques but also met-aphorize how memory and technology weave the invisible fabric of contemporary reality.

As an extension of the exhibition, pioneering French video artist Robert Cahen will collaborate with Macao artist Alice Kok to host the “Video Postcards” Masterclass on 18 May 2025 at The Parisian Macao. Participants will immerse themselves in Coloane’s natural and historical landscapes, drawing inspiration from Cahen’s signature “poetics of fleeting imagery.” Through techniques such as slow motion, superimposition, and sound design, they will transform ephemeral sensory experiences into unique “memory postcards.” The workshop includes on-site filming, post-production guidance, and a final screening. Art enthusiasts, filmmakers, and the public are invited to explore the profound connections between video art and local sentiments. *Source:Art For All Society (AFA Macau)
